Grammatical sentence question

I said to my husband, "You went and you bought eggs". I thought 'to the store' after the word 'went' would be assumed as that is what took place. He claims the sentence is grammatically incorrect. I disagree. Will you help resolve this question as neiher of us knows why?

The sentence is not wrong.

You don't have to say 'to the store' if that is clearly understo

I originally was looking at this from a different perspective and meaning altogher. I'm not quite sure how to describe the use of "went and"....
