Grammatical problems

Hi

I'm wondering which one of there sentences is correct, or whether there is a difference between them.

'I slept for 4 hours today.'
'I've slept for 4 hours today.'

I always tend to use perfect tenses because I see some logical consequences. That's why I'd go for I've slept for 4 hours today. (I'm sleepy now. // Maybe I'll sleep more today.)
I've found both alternatives in google so I'm really unsure which one is appropriate.

Another problem that I have...

'Everyone uses is as they want.'

Is the 'they want' part correct?

And if you have found ( Can I use just 'found' here?) anygrammatical mistake in my post, write me a correction in your response please. Emotion: smile

I'm sorry, I had mistyped (or just mustyped? I'd go for perfect because 'I had mistyped-->You didn't understand it') it. It should be like this:

Everyone uses it as they want.

In the 'they want' part, I'd been confused. I had understood the meaning of 'as they want' but it seems strange that I write two verbs in one sentence, the first with +s, even though both of them are reffering to the same subject.

Hi,

Consider this.
The Past Perfect is not usually used when the meaning is obvious without it.
Excessive and unnecessary use of the tense is one way that you show you are not a native speaker.

I think you have a little time to edit but not much. So if you miss the time limit, you can't edit your post anymore.

From my observations,

after it's already been posted is the usual word order.

For the first part of your question, both statement are correct. However, normally people use the first since it is shorter and not as formal. Although, you are correct with the second statement making more sense from a ESL perspective.

For the second part of your question, that statement is not accurate or make sense so I am not sure exactly what you are asking. Possibly you are try
