Would you please point out the grammatical mistakes and ambiguities in the following paragraph?
You are absolutely right that business management styles have improved a lot in the recent years. Until a few centuries ago, the number of businesses and job openings were less, so the businesses didn't pay much attention to employees and their benefits. Now, given the new innovative ideas in business management and competition in labor markets, the businesses pay close attention to reward and retain the employees.

To earn a good grade a student has to suck up (to the teacher).
It's a bit vulgar to the ears of some, so go easy on it!
(You certainly don't want to use the expression within earshot of your teacher!)
