Grammatical?

Dear teachers,

Are the following sentences grammatical ?

1. I requested him to wait for me there while I should return to him later with the laptop.

2. I told the witness to wait outside while I took down other details from his friends.

Thank you very much.

"To request someone to infinitive " sounds quite odd to me. I know people use it, but they shouldn't because it sounds quite odd to me, and they should care about that. It's like how I can taste truffle oil, and it tastes like brake fluid.

  • Or celantro (which has an English name, for crying out loud—coriander), which tastes like stinkbug urine on wet cardboard.
  • But still they dump it in food I'm expected to eat.
