  • JT: If the teacher was demanding perfect formal written English then I see two mistakes; one, is not capitalized and two, the question mark is outside the final quotation mark and if memeory serves me, there are slightly different ways the second aspect is handled in different dialects.

In addition,

If the quotation is a question, the question mark goes inside the quotation mark:

She said, ''Will you bring me my book?''
''Will you bring me my book?'' she said.

If the quotation is not a question but it's inside a question, the question mark goes after the quotation mark:

She said, ''Bring me my book"
