The omission of otherwise repeated phrases is called "ellipsis". It is a literary device to avoid unnecessary boring repetition. The reader fills in the omitted words in their mind. So there are two different stylistic devices going on in one sentence!

You should use commas to mark the omissions, for example, "Lindbergh, of a man more brave …." It's kind of mandatory.
