Is this sentence correct?

Just a few meters away, a young boy let out a slightly menacing giggle as he revealed the six baseball caps he had ‘acquired’ from various stalls to his mother.

The sentence looked fine. I am not sure why you put acquired in quotation marks. My preference is "..

I would prefer "to his mother" be closer to "revealed."

Are you sure "manacing" is the word you want?

Edit: Sorry - there wasn't an answer when I started.

I believe "acquired" has quotes because it really means "stolen" -- is that right?

Would "...as he revealed to his mother the six..." be better?

Not 100% no. I was trying to portray the kind of laugh a child does when they know they've done something wrong, but they still find it hilarious. Any suggestions?

"Menacing" would be frightening. A crazy murderer might giggle menacingly as he had you tied up in a chair.

Perhaps simply "mischieviously"?
