Grammar - slab, doubled over

Hi,

1)

“Information is or gets passed along among the students at the speed of light.”

Are both options correct?

2) I’ve already posted a similar question but because the search engine is still broken, I can’t review it.

When you spend an excessive amount of time in cold water, your hands and feet might feel like ‘slabs of ice’? It’s probably something similar. I just can’t remember the exact words.

3) Can you be ‘doubled over with laughter’?

Thank you.
