hello everyone!OK, I'm not sure about the following and would really appreciate it if somebody helps me out with this!1) the conversation goes like this:    A: I'm going to go for swimming today    B: Oh! I have a dentist appointment today. It is really hot and I don't want to go there today. I         WISH I WAS YOU    Is it " I wish I was you" or "I wish I were you" 2) (I live in Florida and my friend lives in Cali and I'm going to meet him the next week)      should I say I'm going to Cali sometime the next week or I'm coming to Cali sometime the next            week?3) are these sentences right? (Please assume the appropriate context)    a) "both the groups get along with each other" right?    b) you might not create a great impression if you are clean shaven and not formally dressed          or         you might not create a good impression if you are not formally dressed even though you                  might have a clean shaven face 4) what is the difference between "I speak English only" and I speak only English"?5) I hope something pans out for you / I hope that something pans out for you6) The bus is frequent and there is one every 10 minutes (or) the bus comes frequently and there is     a bus AFTER every 10 minutesSorry for posting so many sentences Thanks a lot!

1) the conversation goes like this:

A: I'm going to go swimming / go for a swim today

B: Oh! I have a dentist appointment today. It is really hot and I don't want to go there today. I WISH I WAS YOU

Is it " I wish I was you" or "I wish I were you" -- "I wish I were you" is formally correct. In everyday English, "I wish I was you" is also used, and is, to me, scarcely an error. Nevertheless, I still prefer "were".

2) (I live in Florida and my friend lives in Cali and I'm going to meet him the next week)

should I say I'm going to Cali sometime the next week or I'm coming to Cali sometime the next week? -- If you are talking to your friend in California then use "coming". If you are talking to someone else (someone who isn't in California) then use "going".

3) are these sentences right? (Please assume the appropriate context)

a) "both the groups get along with each other" right? -- To me, this is acceptable but faintly illogical. I prefer "the two groups get along with each other".

b) you might not create a great impression if you are clean shaven and not formally dressed

or

you might not create a good impression if you are not formally dressed even though you might have a clean shaven face -- The second version seems preferable; the sense of "even though" seems to be required for the correct meaning.

4) what is the difference between "I speak English only" and I speak only English"? -- No difference. More usual (though arguably technically inferior) is "I only speak English".

5) I hope something pans out for you / I hope that something pans out for you -- Both OK (interchangeable).

6) The bus is frequent and there is one every 10 minutes -- OK.

(or) the bus comes frequently and there is a bus AFTER every 10 minutes -- Not so good.
