Grammar quiz - why are these answers correct?

I just took a few grammar quizzes on the internet, but can't make up, why these answers are correct:
The quiz was about present perfect or simple past.

Q3 They ... a few minutes ago
(left not have left)

Q21 I've known her since we ... at school together
(were is supposed to be corret noct have been)

Q22 It's ages since we ...
(spoke not have spoken)

Q28 I ... busy for the past fortnight
(have been not was)

Q40 My stereo ... working last night
(stopped not has stopped)

Why are the answers in the brackets correct? In Q3,Q21,Q22 and Q40 the actions have a connection to the present and in Q28 a specific point of time in the past, so why are my assumption incorrect?
Thank you!
