Grammar question no. 72: replace/will replace/will have replaces

Dear All,

In the following sentence:

Can you please help me find another classroom for tomorrow's classes? I don't think they will replace the projector by tomorrow morning.

Should we say:

1) I don't think they will replace the projector by tomorrow morning or
2) ...the projector will have been replaced by tomorrow morning or
3) ...they will have replaced the projector by tomorrow morning or
4) ...the projector will be replaced by tomorrow morning

If you could explain to me the grammar behing your reasoning, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks

PS Should we use tomorrow or tomorrow's here?

The best way to describe that sentence is by the use of "future perfect". "Future perfect" describes an action that will be completed in the future before a definite time. Therefore, both choices 2 & 3 would do.

  • Choice 2 is in passive tone which would be the preferable option as it is not important who will replace the projector.
