Grammar question no. 40 - have been married

Hi Dear Users,

I've been wondering how to analyze this sentence in terms of grammar.

I have been married for 4 years.

1. Is for necessary?
2. What's the grammatical function of married?

have - is an auxuliary verb
been - is the past participle form of the verb to be

Thanks in advance

Hmm...

I don't know why but these sentences make me feel confused.

She has been married (to another guy)
She has got(ten) married (to another guy)
She has married (another guy)

All of them are in the present perfect tense and yet and married functions differently in each of them.

Context is vital.

She has been married in church once and in a register office twice. - Here, we have the present perfect of the verb 'marry'.

She has been married for ten years. - Here we have 'married' functioning as an adjective.

She (has) married another man. - Here we have the present perfect (has married) or past simple (married) of the verb 'm
