Grammar question - is before a spatial preposition as well?

Dear Users,

I was wondering if before can be used to make spacial references? Is it only used in terms of time refefrences?

For example, can we say:

and when I stood there before all those people, before all my classmates...

And... if I may... does this sentence make any sense? I feel it might not be phrased the best way...

I was wondering if before can be used to make spacial references? Is it only used in terms of time refefrences?

Thanks

Perfect Stranger For example, can we say:and when I stood there before all those people, before all my classmates.. That is fine. It is a bit formal.
