Grammar Question

I have a grammar question I am trying to answer.

Is it correct to say, "I will have no socks" or "I will have no regrets"?

Why or Why not? What is the rule?

I know it is better to say, "I will not have any socks."

But why?

"I will have no socks" and "I will have no regrets" are both perfect English. It is NOT better to say "I will not have any socks".
