Help me with this:

I can say: What I can do is take your number.
Is it possible and correct to say: What I can do is to take your number.

Tell me more about collocation please, l was thinking this example would be right but apparently not. "What l can do is taking your number". English l learn as a second language and my mind comes with many answers , mostly incorrect, to write a sentence properly.
