Grammar Question

Hey guys, please help out with the question bellow:

10) Aloft the molds, the leader was stationed and controlled the machinery.

Can the word "aloft" mean "above"? im trying to say above the molds the leader was stationed, but trying to make it more aesthetic.

'Aloft' does not mean 'above'.

I suggest
eg The leader was stationed above the molds, and controlled the machinery.
