grammar question

How would it be understood by a foreigner if I said: Do you want to drink any juice? Does using "any" in this sentence sounds funny?

Top answer

I am a foreigner as English isn't my native language. No, "any" doesn't sound funny (not funny strange, not funny ha-ha). I would say: Would you like to drink some juice?

Foreign to whom? You are not a native speaker (sounds funny).

"Any" is unusual there, but I'll bet there is a context for it that I just can't think of right now. "Some" is usual.

I suppose this could work.

Why do you drink that cra*? (slight pause) I mean, do you really want to drink any juice you get your hands on?
