If the guy has just passed third base and is about to reach home plate, would you accept C, is hitting?

I'm a little on the fence as to whether that one would be OK under those conditions, the verb "hit" being the problem. Still ... [:^)] I'm not sure, if I had made up the question, that I would have included "is hitting".
