Grammar Q no. 5 - successfully participated or participated successfully

Dear All,

Is there any difference in meaning if I change the position of the adverb?
  1. In the 21st century the company participated successfully in more than 80 construction and technical transformation projects.
  2. In the 21st century the company successfully participated in more than 80 construction and technical transformation projects.

By the way, don't you think that present perfect should be used here instead of past simple?

Thanks
