Hi Guys,

I would be very grateful if anybody could help me with this question. Which of these sentences is correct or are bothe acceptable, and if so why?

This morning I didn't know that I would lose my wallet.

This morning I didn't know that I would have lost my wallet.

The first one is OK. It seems to me that we don't know anything that will happen in the future, so the sentence is rather logically absurd.

The first is fine. The second requires some time reference such as 'before lunch'.

Thanks for answering guys... Alphe it refers to past times actually 'this morning' and the point during the day at which I lost my wallet. A student asked this question to one of my colleagues and she wasn't sure. I favoured the first sentence, but another colleague preferred the second and said both were right.

Fivjedjon That's an interesting point thanks!! It does feel much better and
