Grammar--phrasing

In the context of the situation and characters, I think the swearing in the movie was acceptable, not crude.

Does the bold sound OK to you? 'in the context of the characters' sounds slightly weird to me, I think. Is it just saying that it was OK the characters were swearing because the context in which they were swearing warranted such language?
