Grammar: narration change?

I am slightly bewildered by the use of ago and before while narrating. For example, should I say, " Sir, could you please repeat what you said five minutes ago?" or "Sir, could you please repeat what you said five minutes before?". To clarify, the teacher is still with me taking the class.

Kindly answer which one is grammatically correct!

Say "what you said five minutes ago". But if you wait that long, the teacher may have difficulty remembering specifically what was said. CJ
