[grammar] is 'nothing' a noun?

Dear All,

In the following sentence, is nothing a noun?

He will have nothing but the tools which may help him in doing his work...

Source: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, A Study in Scarlet.

In the video about grammar I'm watching right now nothing isn't marked as a noun. In my humble opinion it actually is an abstract non-countable noun though...

Thanks
