Grammar: how can I improve it.

Back in high school a teacher once to me the best way to learn English grammar is by listening to what you say. “what sounds right is right, what sounds wrong is wrong" >> well now after 5 years I'm starting to doubt that she was wrong. What would be the best way to improve my grammar? is there any books you would recommend for me?

She's probably right. Learning grammar is easy when you constantly get correct input. While comsciously STUDY grammar won't help.

I think the mistakes that natives made might not be considered mistakes. Since natives speak it that way, how could it still be a mistake?

An example would be:

You're right. I do write a lot of reports in english ,well I'm a student so this is probably what I need. I need people to understand what I write.
