Could you please check this grammar for me please?


My pants split when I squatted down.

My pants split when squatting down.

This one is good when it [ compared / compares ] it with others. (Both tenses are possible here?)

This one is good when comparing with others.

It is better than I [ expected / expect ]. (Both tenses are possible?)

It is better than [ expected / expect ]. (only past is correct, due to passive voice?)
