Hi,Can I use this word "replenish" in these ways, please advise?Foods or drinks are running low in my fridge, I need to replenish more from a supermarket. (Buy)I need to replenish some fuels for my car. (Fill)A cruiser is replenishing fuels and foods on a dock. (Fill)These two words are interchangeable? no difference?I glanced / glimpsed through the mail box and left.CHeers

Foods or drinks are running low in my fridge, I need to replenish ~~more~~ my supply of groceries from a supermarket. (Buy)
I need to replenish ~~some fuels~~ the fuel for my car. (Fill)
A cruiser is replenishing its fuel and provisions on a dock. (Fill)

'replenish' would not be used in ordinary conversations about groceries or fuel for your car, so the first two sentences above are not realistic, even though they are not wrong as shown.

Here are the typical things that you replenish:

replenish a fund (of money); replenish the reserves (of money); replenish supplies; replenish your provisions; replenish the workforce; replenish the blood, the skin, lost fluids, damaged tissue; replenish the rivers, the lakes

They are about the same in this sentence, but more often glimpse is a noun in the expressions below:

catch a glimpse of; get a glimpse of; give someone a glimpse of

This is not something that you do. It's more like something that happens to you.

glimpse (noun): an occasion when you see someone or something for a moment only

Examples:

Go to the website for details and a glimpse of the merchandise.
Three trips to North Korea have given him a rare glimpse of that closed society.
Those hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal couple will have plenty of chances.

On the other hand, 'glance' is something you do.

glance (verb): to look somewhere quickly and then look away

Examples:

I picked up the magazine and glanced at the headline on the article.
He glanced at his rear-view mirror and saw his passenger looking out the window.
She glanced around the room with its stained furniture and maroon floral drapes.

There is a phrase we sometimes use at the beginning of a sentence where 'glance' is a noun: At first glance, .... This is the set-up for a contrasting sentence to follow. For example, the sentence below would probably be followed by a paragraph stating why Bermuda and the Bahamas are not alike at all.

At first glance, Bermuda and the Bahamas might seem picture-postcard duplicates.
