I refused / ~~rejected~~ / declined to... (From strongest to weakest?) 'reject' can't be followed by an infinitive. Use a noun instead.
I rejected the plan. / I rejected his argument.
Strongest to weakest: reject, refuse to, decline to.
Here's a good one to know: "won't" is about the same as 'refuse to'; "wouldn't" is about the same as 'refused to".
I tried to warn her, but she [wouldn't / refused to] listen.
I bowed ~~/ stooped~~ my head down to walk through the door or tunnel. (Both words are ok here?)
bowed my head (down), but just stooped (no 'head').
