John Aki Could you explain to me why this sentences is not plain form after "to" please? The to that goes with the plain form is called the infinitive marker. But the to that goes with the -ing form is a preposition, the same preposition that is used in "We're going to the beach".

  • There are many expressions where 'to' is a preposition and must be followed by the -ing form of a verb (if it is not followed by a noun as usual).
  • committed to is one of these expressions.
