Grammar help please?

Hi there,

I found these two words are very similar to use in English, Could you advise me which one is more appreciate in these sentences, please?


I tried to prolong / sustain the pleasure of the ice cream in my mouth as long as I could.

I couldn't prolong / sustain this course anymore due to it is far too difficult for me.

I always try to prolong / sustain a good friendship with him/her/them/teachers/professors.

I tried to prolong / sustain my health by exercising and eating more healthy.

There's a variety of meaning for these two words, but, basically, "prolong" means to extend (in time, for example) while "sustain" means to support an existing condition. SO: I tried to prolong / sustain the pleasure of the ice cream in my mouth as long as I could. Prolong, because you want to extend the time when it is pleasurable.
