Grammar help please?

Hi,

Please correct me if I am wrong in this meaning of these two words..

The diamond sparkled / sparked in the light. (Both are same meaning, I guess?)

Cheers.

Top answer

The diamond sparkled in the light. "sparked" would be an unusual choice (and would tend to appear like a typo for "sparkled" anyway).

No, because sparked would mean generating sparks.
