I an currently tutoring a chinese high school student my same age via e-mail from China. He has asked a question which is part of his exam review and I would appreciate anyones help ASAP. But please dont get too technical seeing as he is still learning the language. His great question was
"What is the difference between if and whether"?
Can anyone help? I tried to answer him but I think I may have just confused him more.
Plz Help,
Manic

First, a warm welcome! This is a rather difficult question to answer in my opinion for a couple of reasons’ it’s too general and answers can’t be too technical. But I will try. I believe [if] and [whether] function entirely in different ways and have little in common. If anything, they are sort of opposite.
