Grammar help

Hi,

I would appreciate your help with this sentence. It's difficult to understand. Does it mean the duck was eaten by the dog or still alive?

"Whilst it is not ideal to have captured the duck, the proximity to local villages and farmland meant there was a high likelihood she would have been killed by domestic dogs."

Cheers,
