Why do we say "Come and see it for yourself " and not "Come to see it for yourself " ?

Is using "to" in the sentence correct as well ?

Is using "to" in the sentence correct as well ? "come", "go", and "try" are sometimes followed by "and" when you might expect "to". "and" is correct, and "to" is correct, too.

"and" is correct, and "to" is correct, too.

I find the 'and' version a bit easier to say.
Come'n'see . . .
