Grammar Help

Hi. I have a grammatical question about this sentence below.

"The group (argue, argues) about the question. "

Should I use argue or argues? I know that group is a collective noun but in that sentence the group isn't exactly acting together as one. Am I overthinking about this? Haha. So, please give me an accurate answer. Any help would be appreciated.

That's right - if it is being thought of as several individuals, then use the plural verb: the group are arguing among themselves.
