A. I'll give you a big present later.
B. I'll give a big present to you later

What is the grammatical reason? Same meaning but A omits "to" and B includes "to". Cheers Fulvio

No. You need to choose:

I'll give you a big present later
I'll give a big present to you later

I see. so
I'll give you a big present later (The indirect object is "big present")
I'll give a big present to you later ( the prepositional object is "big present to")

No, you have it all backward.

I'll give you a big present later (The direct object is "present" and the indirect object is 'you'.)
I'll give a big present to you later ( the prepositional object is "you" and 'present' is still the direct object.)
