The lyrics of the song, "Heaven", by Brian Adams goes as follows:
Oh thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
My question is: Shouldn't it say "There were only you and me"?
My reasoning is that "You and me" can be replaced with "us", which makes it plural.
