We all have our stories. Some people enjoy _(telling)_ other people their stories but some people tend
_(to keep)__ their stories to themselves. Do you know _(that/about)__ telling our personal stories _(can)_ change our
lives? Well, it _(proves)_ that the stories we tell _(them/to them)_ about our lives have a huge impact on our mental health.
This is true according to recent research in the field.
A recent study on narrative therapy suggests that _(to take)__ control of our own personal stories can __(be clinical)_
improve our mental health and sense of well-being. In the therapy, patients are asked _(to write)_ at least two
to three paragraphs _(describing)__ how they feel the therapy __(is affecting)_ them the following week. They are told
_(not to)_ simply give a re-cap of the therapy session. Instead, they _(have to)_ tell the therapist how they
think _(about)__ the therapy session, its impact __(on)_ them, and how those thoughts and feelings about
the therapy _(has changed/change)__ their lives over the course of time. Results of this study __(find/showing)_ that story-telling
serves _(as)__ a great therapeutic tool __(for improving)_ mental health.
Another study involving patients with high blood pressure also showed _(promising)_ results. When these
patients listened to personal narratives of others with similar health problems, they _(were able to)_ control their
illness as effectively as another group taking extra drugs _(to control)_ the condition. Some doctors are
therefore _(having/getting)__ their patients with severe illnesses to tell their own stories in the hope __(to help/of helping)_ them
gain a better understanding of their illness _(and/so that)_ empowering them in the face of sickness and
disease.
