Grammar clarification!

Hi fellows,

I would like to help me. I have a grammar question and the sentence is like above:
'I am fed up with exams'
'How many.........?'
a. don't you have left
b. have you left
c. did you have left
d. do you have left

I know that the right answer is 'd' but why ''b'' can not be also right???

Hi, Irini, and welcome to the forums. You are right that "How many have you left?" is grammatically correct. However, "How many do you have left?" is far more natural and likely. You usually are supposed to pick the best answer, and that is "d."
