is this grammatically correct?

"There were many positive and negative self-identifications of being a childless older adult."

It needs to be in past tense. I'm trying to say that there were many childless older adult who identifies themselves negatively or positively in their childless life course.

I'm writing a summary of a research article about childless older people. The sentence I gave is describing the results of what the researchers have found. Specifically, they found that some older people enjoy being a non-parent while others are more regretful. The article uses "positive and negative childless identity". So i thought i should use it as well :/ or is identity and self-identificatio

Without getting involve with the research materials, I am feeling a little unsure about the word " identity". Maybe it is my perception. If a couple is childless, they should be aware of this fact, and they don't need to be self-identified. Some childless couples may have chosen this life style while others may have other reasons or difficulty of conceiving. There are positive and nega

I do appreciate your response and was not expecting a long one either. I will look over the research article again and see if i can figure this out. Your post was very helpful, i would have otherwise handed in my assignment without fully understanding what the author had meant by "identity."
