Could you please tell me if I am correct here?


My pain or the situation progressively / gradually got worse. (Both words share pretty much same meaning here?)

Yes. They are similar.

'progressively' ~ by steps
'gradually' ~ slowly

So 'progressively' can be fast or slow, and 'gradually' is only slow.
