Garage According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word safe is defined as free from harm or risk. In my garage, I am separated from the outside world. It is a place where no one dares to venture. This is where loneliness is my friend and where I come to be at peace with myself. This is a place where no one cares what I am doing. At night or in the morning I am secluded in my own space. No worries on their behalf or mine. The garage is a room barricaded by neglect. Boxes upon boxes of effects no one wishes to see. I stand beside them in bliss and harmony. Danger is everywhere, but in my garage there is none. The feelings I keep inside are released in the garage. I create the rules and boundaries. What I say goes and that’s final; I am in charge. My garage keeps me busy. It always calls me and keeps me out of trouble. If I get angry I run to my garage. When I am sad, I run to my garage. The garage is a guardian who cares about me. After a long day of avoiding danger, I sit in the garage to be protected and cared for. I love my garage and my garage loves me. It is a place of control in my life. I do what I want in the garage. I work on my car, play games, and even eat in the garage. When it comes down to it, the garage is a second home. Ever since I was young, the garage was always there for me. It carries things from the past and the present. It lets me reflect on what I’ve lost and what I’ve gained. It reminds me that I am alone by myself and I’m fine with that. In my garage I am safe. This is my definition of safe. Having complete control of what you are doing and knowing who you really are. Once you have this down you are safe. Safe from dangerous things and people.
