(1) Reading is to the mind what food is to the body (OK)
(2) Glue is to separate what fire is to burn (??)
(1) is correct, but (2) seems to be incorrect
If (2) is incorrect, how can we change it into a correct sentence?
I am afraid they are both incorrect. Reading to the human mind is what food is to the body. I am pretty sure only one "is" is needed.

HoonyIf (2) is incorrect, how can we change it into a correct sentence?
You might change 'burn' to 'cool'.
You can use glue to keep things from separating.
You can use fire to keep things from cooling.
There may be other possibilities.
