The cause of my insomnia is not related to my studies, as might be expected from an 18-year-old, but the mere realization of how fake I am; how absolutely hollow!

Is it correct to use "as might be expected from an 18-year-old"? or should I use " as expected......."? Can you suggest an alternative?

Does "how absolutely hollow!" sound good?

I don't believe anyone "expects" an 18-year-old to have insomnia. Otherwise, your sentence is good.

Is it correct to use "as might be expected from an 18-year-old"? or should I use " as expected......."? Both are fine. as might be expected>>> it's just a possibility
