Grammar advice please?

Hi there,

There words are pretty much same meanings, tell me which one sounds the worse and the most serious bad crime to you.

Which one sounds the less serious, more like a stupid crime to you?

He tricked / cheated / fooled / duped bank for the mortgage.

He tricked / cheated / fooled / duped old man for his money.

Thanks in advance.
