Grammar advice please?

Hi,

Can you advice me, which word is natural English for today, please?

I looped/wound the rope around the pole.

The path loops/wires around the lake.

I paused for wind; I was winded.

I paused for breath. I was short of breath.

Thanks a lot.

It depends on what you mean. "Looped" suggests that you merely passed one end around the pole once. "Wound" means that you took several turns at least rather tightly.

John AkiThe path loops/wires around the lake.

You meant "winds", not "wires", I think. They are both
