Hello everyone,Could you please tell me if you use "answer" or "answers" in the following instruction?choose the right answer/answers1. As far as I know, you are not allowing students to select more than one choice as their response to each question, so each item has only one answer.

Use "answer". Or you could say "Choose the right answer for each item".

However, for a multiple choice test we don't usually include "Choose the right answer" in the instructions. It's too obvious. Students are sure to know that they are not supposed to choose the wrong answer. But sometimes we start with "Choose only one answer for each multiple choice item".

1. He ____ to school yesterday.

A. went
B. goes
C. Both of the above.
(Too few choices. You need at least four to create a valid test item.

2. They ____ playing now.

A. is
B. were
C. are
D. None of the above.

3. She met me ____ 7:30.

A. at
B. in
C. on
D. None of the above.

Too many test items with "All of the above" or "None of the above" as a choice. These should occur only once for every ten or so items on a test, or even less often.
