GRAMMAR

This is the form of how to use "such a(n) " and "such" in our book.

Considering the upper form,

1-Why isn't there adjective before "shock" in the example "It was such a shock." also there isn't any adjective before "mess" in the example "They made such a mess".

2-Are "Mess" and "such" uncountable nouns ?

3-Can we use anything else instead of "such a" in the two examples ?

These two examples don't jibe with the form.
