Hi guys! This sentence appeared on a book: "The design company went for the applicant with the best portfolio." Can we use a different tense in the phrasal verb like: goes for; is going for; will go for? Tks, Márcia (São Paulo, Brazil)

Phrasal verbs occur in all the same tenses that other verbs occur in, if that's what you're asking.
