Hi,

1) When I drive somewhere and I know the way without having to depend on a GPS, could I use 'by or from memory'?

"I drove to the city where my parents live from memory."

2) "People are slowly weaning themselves off (eating) fast food." Does the use of 'wean off' here sound natural?

Thank you.

There are certain words that one just doesn't use in casual speech because of the negative or sensitive connotations they call to mind, for example: wean, fondle, caress.
