Hi,
1) Can I use 'slump back on my chair' if I sort of sink into the seat, lean against the backrest but I don't slouch forward? I basically lower myself into the seat.
2) Is 'cut cornes on' appropriate when talking about not doing much work for certain classes?
"I have five courses so I need to cut corners on some of them to be able to get through the semester."
3) When a car has very nice hubcaps where you can see that all the tiny details have been brough to perfection, would you say that the hubcaps are well worked-out? I can't really think of a good word off the top of my head right now.
Thank you.
Ann225 1) Can I use 'slump back on my chair' if I sort of sink into the seat , lean against the backrest but I don't slouch forward? I basically lower myself into the seat . That sounds more like 'slump back in my chair', although just lowering yourself into the seat doesn't necessarily involve a sloppy sort of pose like 'slump' suggests, so you might mean 'settle back into my chair'.
